Everest Base Camp Trek in 2022
Mount Everest (8848m)is the tallest peak on the earth and its located in the east north part of Nepal. The Base Camp Mount Everest at an elevation of 5364 m (17598 ft) above sea level and its the most massive base camp in the world. The Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most preferred high adventure journeys and the most popular trekking routes in the Himalayas. Each year approximately 45k people visit the base camp from Lukla Airport. Trekkers usually 30 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla to save time and energy before beginning the trek to the Everest base camp. However, trekking to Lukla is possible to complete the EBC Trek within short days from Kathmandu. There are no access roads to Lukla and as a result, the only method of transporting large and heavy goods is by plane and local porters. It takes 7 days to reach at base camp from Kathmandu.
The Lukla is the major gateway of the Khumbu region and it’s one of the busy places in the area. From Lukla, trekkers trek upward to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, 3,440 meters (11,290 ft), following the beautiful valley of the Dudh Kosi river and crossing the Hillary suspension bridge. It takes about two days to reach at Namche Bazaar, which is the central hub of the area. From Namche Bazaar the trails are divided to Thame valley with Renjo La pass, Gokyo valley, and Everest base camp trail. Typically at this point, climbers allow a day of rest for acclimatization up to Hotel Everest and around the valleys of Khumjung and Khunde village. The EBC trekking trail goes through the Phortse village and Dingboche village. Where trekkers stay two nights for acclimatization and resting too. Most trekkers use the traditional trail via Tengboche monastery, but recently the high trail via Mong La and Phortse has gained popularity due to the impressive views it offers. Another two days take them to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep, the flat field below Kala Patthar, 5,545 meters (18,192 ft), and Mt. Pumori.
The Kala Patthar is a beautiful place throughout the trek and it’s the best vantage point to see the Everest too closely with blissful panoramic views of the massive Himalayas. When you hike to base camp everybody to explore the world’s largest Khumbu glacier and Khumbu icefall. After completing the Kalapathar and base camp the trekking trails decent to Lukla through the Pangboche village, Tengboche monastery, Namche, and Lukla. The Tengboche monstery is the biggest and most historical monastery in the Everest region.
