Manaslu Circuit Trek region located Nepal Far North Mid-West Himalaya within the district of Gorkha in between Annapurna massif towards the west and Ganesh Himal in the east direction. A marvelous country to venture which was closed for outside visitors for many years, and then for last three decades flung its door wide open for trekkers and explorer to enjoy the adventure around this forbidden territory. Manaslu Region is the third popular trekking region in Nepal included Manaslu Trek, Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek and Short Tsum Valley trek. A journey of great fascination and delights where the walk takes you to varied landscapes with different temperatures as landscapes and vegetation changes every day along with the local culture.

Walk from the low warm sub-tropical climate of heavily cultivated farm areas to reach cooler Himalayan green hills covered in beautiful woods with tall rhododendron, oaks, magnolia, pines and fir tree lines. Views of Ganesh, Annapurna with Lamjung Himal and Manaslu mountain range remains constant on most walking days with the great dramatic contrast of rolling green hills. Local Manaslu Circuit Trekking although opened for outside trekkers and adventurers but still remains as restricted region, where one can explore and trek obtaining a special permit to enter into beautiful Manaslu high valley.

An adventure leads you to traverse from Gorkha district and high Manaslu valley to reach at Manang area crossing over Larke-La pass the highest point of the journey at the height of 5,106 m and 16,752 feet high. Where trekkers can have the opportunity to witness both sides of Manaslu Himalaya range from North to its Southern terrain with a great change of climate from sub-tropical to cooler temperatures and then at artic cold zone of ice and glaciers. Besides a varied dramatic change of the country landscapes where you will enjoy various cultures walking into nice lovely hill farm villages of both Hindu and Buddhist religions. A walk takes you much higher dominated by Manaslu people a tribe of Tibetan origin interwoven with interesting Buddhist religion and culture and ancient heritage of traditional farm life.

Manaslu Circuit Trek continues following raging Buri-Gandaki River upstream most of the way right to its glacial source in the heart of Manaslu valley and beyond at Larke Phedi / bottom. Trekking around lovely villages of Jagat, Namrung, Lho-Gaon to reach at main Sama-Gaon a major village within high Manaslu valley which also falls on Old Trans Himalaya Salt / Caravan Trade Route of Nepal to Tibet. At one time strong trade between the two countries use to take place before Tibet was annexed with mainland China, the exchange of goods still exists among local villagers but in smaller ways. With ample time at Sama-Gaon having rest day to support acclimatization before heading higher altitude as well as exploring these interesting and impressive villages enriched with colorful culture in the backdrop of high Manaslu mountain range. From Sama-Gaon adventure continues to reach at the end of Manaslu valley and Gorkha district at Larke Phedi / bottom of Larke-La Pass also called Dharmasala which means a shelter for travelers.

Camping Trek at Manaslu Region

Early morning at the crack of dawn starts the day with a steep climb to reach on the highest spot of the adventure on top Larke-La pass, located at the height 5,106 m, the pass festooned with thousands of Buddhist prayer flags and marked with a signboard. The pass offers a breathtaking panorama of surrounding high mountain range facing views of the whole Manaslu group of peaks with Larke Peak, Annapurna with Himlung towards North-West. From the top, a long descend reaches you at the bottom of Larke-La Pass in a place called Bhimthang or Bhimphedi, a lovely spot in the midst of a coniferous forest situated in a large green meadow with a number of good lodges for travelers comfort. After completing our long walk and reaching the highest spot of the adventure, from here onward pleasant scenic walks on entering within the district of Manang where popular and famous Annapurna and Manaslu Circuit route joins at Dharapani village.

Enjoy last overnight at Dharapani village where exciting and interesting long drives reach you back into low warm farm country around villages and town of Besisahar. On reaching Besisar headquarter and the large town of Lamjung district, from here on a good road to Kathmandu to end our marvelous adventure and experience on Manaslu Circuit Trek.

Best time for Manaslu Circuit Trek:

March to May during the spring time when days are fine can get cloudy in the late afternoon with cooler nights and morning can expect snow sometimes around higher areas. Another best time in autumn/fall season from September to early November when most days are crystal clear for views and walks but shorter sunlight hours can get freezing temperatures in the morning and night time, with snow-falls sometimes.
