Have you ever did a high adventure destination? If you never did any high adventure-challenging trek in Nepal we highly recommend the Manaslu Trek. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is an outstanding walking journey in the Manaslu region. It’s a restricted wilderness trekking route that is suitable for beginner travelers. It is also a challenging and rewarding trek located in Nepal including the popular Larkya La Pass (5160m) too. This trek is the best trip to experience a unique diverse culture, diverse landscapes, and the world’s 8th tallest peak mount Manaslu. While it’s not typically recommended for beginner trekkers, with proper preparation and guidance, it can still be an achievable adventure. However, it’s important to note that prior trekking experience and a good level of fitness are highly recommended for this trek.

The trek can be completed within 10 to 14 days from Kathmandu and it’s completely based tea house basis. Besides there are side treks such as Tsum Valley Trek, Lower Manaslu Trek, and Ganga Jamuna Trek. Also, this trail is linked to the popular Annapurna Circuit Trek when you cross the Larkya La pass.

Here are some key points to consider if you’re a beginner traveler planning to undertake the Manaslu Circuit Trek:

  1. Trekking Agency and Guide: It is strongly advised to hire a reputable trekking agency and an experienced guide for the Manaslu Circuit Trek. They can help with organizing permits, providing necessary equipment, and ensuring your safety throughout the journey.
  2. Special and Normal Permits: You’ll need special permits to trek in the Manaslu region, namely the Manaslu Restricted Area Permit and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). These permits are not available for individual travelers, so you must be part of a registered trekking group.
  3. Physical Fitness: The Manaslu Circuit Trek involves long and challenging days of trekking at high altitudes. It’s crucial to prepare yourself physically by engaging in regular exercise and building stamina before embarking on the trek.
  4. Acclimatization: Proper acclimatization is crucial to avoid altitude sickness. The trek includes several high-altitude passes, so it’s essential to follow a well-paced itinerary that allows for gradual altitude gain and rest days for acclimatization.
  5. Trek Duration: The Manaslu Circuit Trek typically takes around 14 to 18 days to complete, depending on your pace and itinerary. It’s important to have enough time allocated for the trek to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
  6. Accommodation and Facilities: The trek passes through remote areas with limited facilities. Teahouses (basic lodges) are available along the trail, but the accommodations are simple with basic amenities. It’s advisable to carry a sleeping bag and other essential items.
  7. Training and Preparation: Before the trek, it’s recommended to engage in cardiovascular exercises like hiking, jogging, or cycling to improve your endurance. Additionally, you should consider carrying out some strength and resistance training to build your leg muscles.
  8. Packing List: It’s crucial to have the appropriate gear and equipment for the trek. Some essential items include sturdy hiking boots, trekking poles, warm clothing, a down jacket, a good quality backpack, a first aid kit, and high SPF sunscreen.
  9. Weather and Seasons: The best time to undertake the Manaslu Circuit Trek is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons. These months offer relatively stable weather conditions and clear views of the surrounding mountains.
  10. Respect Local Culture and Environment: As with any trek in Nepal, it’s important to respect the local culture and traditions of the communities you encounter along the way. Be mindful of the environment and practice responsible trekking by adhering to Leave No Trace principles.
